Personal Injury - Dog Bites

New Jersey Dog Bite Lawyers
Dog Bite Attorneys in New Jersey

The statistics on dog attacks in America are alarming. Each year the number of innocent children and adults seriously injured or killed by dogs in the United States increases dramatically. Approximately twenty people die each year as a result of dog attacks in the United States, the majority (60%) of the victims are children. Each year there are more than 850,000 dog bites requiring medical attention and over four million dog bites ranging from minor nips to serious dog maulings, resulting in bodily injury and even death.

Most of these bites are to the face, causing dangers of infection, trauma and scarring. Wounds can be classified as cuts, lacerations, abrasions, crushing wounds or punctures. These wounds can often result in fractured bones and/or disfiguring scars. Frequently surgical repair is needed. Statistically, children under 10 years of age are at the highest risk for severity of attack and permanent impairments resulting from a dog attack.

Under New Jersey law, when you file a dog bite lawsuit, you need only prove that the victim was lawfully on the premises when the dog attack occurred and that the dog attack caused injury to the plaintiff. The defendant (owner or keeper) of the dog is strictly liable for all injuries and damages suffered by the plaintiff. Prior knowledge of whether or not it was a vicious dog does not matter.

While proving a physical, emotional, or cognitive injury can be difficult, our experienced and knowledgeable attorneys and staff are able to undertake difficult cases and prevail, convincing skeptics of the merits of a claim via credible, trustworthy evidence and objective test findings. Aiello, Harris, Devero, Marth & Schiffman is committed to protecting our client's rights and has repeatedly demonstrated our ability to succeed in the most challenging and complex injury cases.
